The With A Trace quest, given by Shani, sends players into the Blue Gate map to investigate destroyed machines. Completing this assignment unlocks valuable survival equipment and advances your standing among the traders in Speranza.
Starting Prerequisites and Mission Overview
Before accepting With A Trace from Shani, players must first gain access to the Blue Gate map by playing initial matches. Additionally, you need to complete the prerequisite quest Reduced to Rubble to officially trigger this task. Once active, the entire objective can be finished during a single deployment if you navigate efficiently.
Investigating the Barren Clearing
Your first objective takes you to the western area of the map known as the Barren Clearing. In this wide-open space, search for a large downed ARC machine with severed limbs. Approach the severed leg on the southwest side of the machine to locate a round, grey object on the ground and interact with it.
Locating the Device at Adorned Wreckage
After inspecting the clearing, move slightly south toward the Adorned Wreckage region. Instead of searching the main colorful wreckage, look for a small yellow computer resting on a desk nearby. Interacting with this terminal registers the final investigative step required to conclude the field work.
Survival Tips and Claiming Rewards
Because the investigation points sit in open ground, dropping smoke grenades while interacting helps protect you from patrolling enemies and rival raiders. Interestingly, you do not need to extract alive to mark the quest as complete once both interactions are recorded. Returning to Speranza and speaking with Shani will reward you with a Medium Shield and a Looting Mk. 2 augment.
